ComFest and Gay Pride

Ok ok... so it's ComFest. I generally love it. The Gay Pride Festival/Weekend is also going on, and I'll admit I *am* gay, but what the hell is that to be proud of?

I mean, what? If we had a festival for being white anglo-saxon protestants, they'd call it a Klan meeting. It just wouldnt happen.

Being gay has such insignificance (as my father pointed out when I came out to him a few weeks ago) that why does it need a parade? What I do in my bedroom and who I choose to love (as far as the law allows) has little bearing on anything.

Does this mean I'm any less "gay" than anyone else? No. Does it mean I hate prejudice any less than anyone else? Hell no. The bearded hillbilly preachers picketing on the street only infuriated me more. I hope some dykes on bikes pounded the crap outta them (well, not really, since violence isnt an answer, but it woulda been fun to watch).

Am I going out tonight? Yes. Do I give a flying fig about why everyone else is there? No. Let me go dance, and drink, and see my friends, and let it go at that.

That's gay at it's real meaning anyway. Happy, you fool.
