silence
sorry i've been kinda silent... lots on my mind. my brain is trying to un-puzzle the placement of furniture in the new house, and also plan for the migration of STUFF.
talked to anthony a bit yesterday -- we both agree, moving sucks. he's moving to Sunbury, which is further, and quite a long way from where he wants to be, but for him, it's much closer to work.
spoke briefly with Ray, but his phone cut out or something.
today's the big day -- inspection. also time to measure rooms and maybe even get preliminary photos. but, all I can do is think about stuff I need to pack before we go. pack pack pack... sort sort sort... toss toss toss...
and, I have a paper due tomorrow. yes, I started, but I'm not sure I can beef it up to a full three pages. we'll see. I also need to get a thesis statement done for my final, which I still havent picked a topic for.

As someone who has moved 3 times in one year, let me share some wisdom with you.
Downsize, downsize, downsize. If you haven't looked at it, wore it, or used it in 6 months, you don't want to sort it, pack it, put in a van, remove it from a van, carry it into a house, unpack it, and find a place for it. I donated so much stuff to the goodwill before i moved in Oct.
and i just gave away more.
Moving is such a great opportunity to really get down to the bare minimum, knowing full well that you're going to want to buy tons of new crap for the new place.
Now that i'm finally unpacking, i keep finding stuff that makes me think, i can't believe i moved this!!! It was hard and exhausting to move all that shit, and i brought THIS?!
Next, if you think "i'll replace this when we move" keep it until you replace it. I thought that about alot of stuff, like garbage can or fan, and then had to go out and buy it immediately after i got to my new place because i needed it right then and there. So, instead of relaxing or unpacking, i was in line at the hardware store thinking how retarded i am.
Pack everything into boxes logically, and mark the boxes with EXACTLY what's in it.
Pack things that you'll need immediately, the things you live with, (towels, can opener, toothbrush) in boxes together, so you can unpack those first.
You think you'll get EVERYTHING unpacked as fast as you can, but in reality, you'll want what you need first, and want to do un-necessity things last.
Those were the biggest things for me. I listed on the box, exactly what was in it and it really helped me get it together faster.
Now, I want new furniture and new stuff for my new place, but i still have half the stuff from my old...where does it all go?! Hello goodwill!
I have 2 boxes of crap from over the weekend.
Being a "collector" of random crap is hard on the back.
Good luck moving...i can't wait to see your new place.
Perhaps my next vacation will be visiting all my friends new houses.
Oh wait, my next vacation is Greece...sorry. ;)
