Five or so years ago, I dumped Bank One in favor of an out-of-town credit union (taking advantage of an agreement with our then-employer.) It's, quite possibly, the smartest move I've ever made... EVAR. I refuse to return to ANY bank, no matter how spiffy the commercials are and how good the deal may seem.

Them: "I have Huntington and I love them."
Me: "Do you pay for checks?"
Them: "Uh, yes."
Me: "Do you pay a bunch of bullshit service fees?"
Them: "Uh, yes."
Me: "Do they charge you insane overdraft fees, charge you to use their own ATMs, and treat you like shit?"
Them: "Uh, yes."
Me: "And... why do you love them again?"
Them: "Uh..."

Riiiiiight.

i belong to a credit union too, and it's ass because their atms are all in really weird places and the office is on the other side of town. but they gave me awesome auto loan rates, and my transaction with barb the loan lady was the most fun i've had in a long time. she was SO nice. YAY BARB!!

Yeah, that's my only gripe about credit unions... the lack of ATMs and bank locations.

I want to join the State Employees one, but it's so damn inconvenient.
