hooray for travel

so, it's on. the big extended family reunion is happenning. in august. in maine. good god, it's gonna be hot and gross. and, it's a potluck, which, as nala pointed out, is kind of crazy, at least for some of us. i mean, 3 of us might be coming from Ohio. then there's three in colorado. five in washington state, a few in virginia, a couple in florida, some in connecticut and massachusetts. i'm sure i'm forgetting some other states, but suffice it to say that even my generation of my grandmother's family is scattered. who knows about my extended family-- surely they didnt all stay in the northeast, too?

i suppose i could go to the co-op when i get there and make some organic cheesy potatoes.

You could bring ice. Or plates.

Damn Kel, I havent laughed that hard at one of the comments on my site in a long time. If only it were as simple as plates or ice. Unfortunately, I know I'd have to find some fabulous but healthy recipe I could make when I got there.

After further analysis, I dont think the turnout's going to be that big. I hope it is, but I think it probably won't be.

Gotta ask the GigaMom tomorrow if she wants to go. I'm thinking not, but since we havent done this in 20 years or so, it cant hurt to ask.

It's from a Dilbert comic my mom's totally in love with. I tried to find it on teh intrawebs, but couldn't. Basically, the plots is that the office is having a pot luck, and everyone falls over each other to volunteer to bring bags of chips, plates and ice. So whenever you have a pot luck, volunteer the plates and ice.
