cleaning to move

one of the things on my to-do list before the move is to gather, clean and organize things. My first goal was linens.

Now, 6 years ago, when I lived in that neighborhood before, I had a couple really great sets of formal drapes for my dining room. They looked great on the long, high windows we had, and made the space look classy. Well, that is, before my dumbass roommate tried to dye them all (at the same time) in my little washer.

So, when I moved from there, I packed everything up and basically forgot about them, other than the occasional "damn him for making my formal curtains tie-dyed!"

A couple days ago, I bought some Rit dye remover to see if I could salvage them. I stuck one pair in, and at the end of the wash cycle, they were back to their original color. Tomorrow, I'm going to do the same on pairs 2 and 3, and then also buying some Oxy-Clean to try and get some stains out (yep, also from him. I think maybe when they are finally clean, I should Scotch-Gard them!)

So, it looks like I may have my formal drapes back after all. Who knows if the color will even work, or if Nala will like them, but at least they'll be clean.
