ComFest and Gay Pride

Ok ok... so it's ComFest. I generally love it. The Gay Pride Festival/Weekend is also going on, and I'll admit I *am* gay, but what the hell is that to be proud of?

I mean, what? If we had a festival for being white anglo-saxon protestants, they'd call it a Klan meeting. It just wouldnt happen.

Being gay has such insignificance (as my father pointed out when I came out to him a few weeks ago) that why does it need a parade? What I do in my bedroom and who I choose to love (as far as the law allows) has little bearing on anything.

Does this mean I'm any less "gay" than anyone else? No. Does it mean I hate prejudice any less than anyone else? Hell no. The bearded hillbilly preachers picketing on the street only infuriated me more. I hope some dykes on bikes pounded the crap outta them (well, not really, since violence isnt an answer, but it woulda been fun to watch).

Am I going out tonight? Yes. Do I give a flying fig about why everyone else is there? No. Let me go dance, and drink, and see my friends, and let it go at that.

That's gay at it's real meaning anyway. Happy, you fool.

Mmm. Our team.

Thanks to Brad @ bradlands.com I found these two links...

Brian McBride (YUM!-- Although making me jealous since he's a year and a half older and has NO bodyfat.) Just a reminder: he plays for our team.

Bush apparently wished the U.S. Team good luck at the OSU commencement on Friday.

Mimosas

Ok, so I forgot to mention, Preston (my old roommate from my current apartment and former coworker) and his girlfriend Kelly (of the last 2 years) got engaged on Friday.

He got a room at the Doubletree, lots of fruit and chocolates, and a bottle of Dom. And a family heirloom ring.

How could a girl say no? And how could she not cry?

Congrats to them. And thanks for the $20 mimosas we had the next morning!

Reunion Time

My aunt just emailed. Apparently all has been set in motion for our family reunion in August, in Round Pond, Maine.

There are beds, tents, hammocks, couches. Let us know when you will arrive and for how long.

Lestat is dead

Lestat is dead. He's dead on the living room floor.

This is not the call I expected just after an email about seeing a movie. Nor did I expect to be helping carry a 100# German Shepherd's dead body to the trunk of a 1999 Mustang to deliver him to the crematorium.

My best friend's world is falling apart, slowly, as he's trying to rebuild. Two pets in two months. Granted, one was expected (the ferret) and Lestat (the dog) was 10 years old, it doesnt make it easier.

Considering that he himself died within the last 6 months, it's been a rotten year.

Here's to making it better.

Finals time again

It's Wednesday. I have a final exam today. That sucks ass.

That's all I have to say at the moment. I had a lot more yesterday, but since my office moved, my ip's are being blocked from updating this site.

Vacation can't come soon enough.
